2 Chronicles 36:5-7

5 aJehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God. 6 bAgainst him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon cand bound him in chains dto take him to Babylon. 7 eNebuchadnezzar also carried part of the vessels of the house of the Lord to Babylon and put them in his palace in Babylon.

Daniel 1:1-5

Daniel Taken to Babylon

1In the third year of fthe reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of gthe vessels of the house of God. And he brought them to hthe land of Shinar, to the house of his god, iand placed the vessels in the treasury of his god. 3Then the king commanded Ashpenaz, jhis chief eunuch, to bring some of the people of Israel, both of the royal family

4youths without mblemish, of good appearance and nskillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding learning, and competent to stand in the king’s palace, and to oteach them the literature and language of the pChaldeans. 5The king assigned them a daily portion of qthe food that the king ate, and of rthe wine that he drank. They were to be educated for sthree years, and at the end of that time they were to tstand before the king.
